Google Job Opportunities
Google Copernicus Center is hiring
Google is interviewing candidates for engineering positions at our lunar hosting and research center, opening late in the spring of 2007.
I’m particularly impressed with the new multi-dimensional cube layouts - tight office-space be damned!

The WAG is (as near as I can tell), a motion sensor embedded in a ring with a wireless transmitter - the reciever picks up the motion data from the ring and converts it into MIDI signals - Intended primarily to control expression pedals and software. Still, I can’t help but think this baby has huge hacker potential if it’s not priced too high.

iPod Alarm Clock Radio at Hammacher Schlemmer
A dock with a built-in alarm clock that controls the iPod. It’s got a couple of decent speakers attached to it and includes all the typical clock radio features (including an AM/FM tuner), and sleep function. It also charges the iPod while docked. Two thumbs up!

ryanschwartz.net AirTunes, AirPort Express, and the WRT54G
So I recently ran into the need to connect an Airport Express in WDS mode to a Linksys WRT54G - Ryan’s writeup was extremely helpful. One thing I ran into was that, being a brand new WRT54G (hardware version 3), the sveasoft firmware supposedly was not compatible. Instead, I grabbed the DD-WRT free firmware and ran with that instead. Since the DD-WRT project is based on the sveasoft firmware, all of Ryan’s steps worked fine and I’ve now got two wired lans bridged wirelessly and connected to the net just fine. Thanks Ryan!

So, I don’t really have the exact day, but sometime in July, 1995, I registered the domain Stickyc.com and started a site - I’m pretty sure the archives are long lost, but at the time, the site jumped on the “look, my photos are on the internet!” bandwagon and hosted dozens of party photos and poorly written editorials by yours truly (Alas, while the site’s software has improved, the editorial quality remains at the same nostalgic level). The StickyC webcam came online shortly therafter (which has come and gone multiple times since - it shall return!). The 15th seems like as good a day as any to celebrate, so Happy Birthday, StickyC.com!

Stand Alone, Inc. - Handheld Software
One of my favorite mobile apps on any platform is a good RSS reader and Standalone Software’s QuickNews is easily the best on the Palm OS platform. Excellent UI for the Treo (can be used entirely with the d-pad) and tons of features, including Podcast download support make it totally worth the $15 reg fee. I’d consider it a must-have for mobile PalmOS platforms.
