It’s Like BOSOM BUDDIES, Except Gay
Posted on Thursday, September 25 @ 09:04:03 EDT by Ajax (26 reads)

Fox has ordered a sitcom pilot from Steve Koren (BRUCE ALMIGHTY) about two straight men who move into an apartment building that only rent to gay men and women. “Our comedy team and (senior vp comedy) Jeremy (Gold) in particular have been passionate about him from Day 1, and it was somebody that we collectively set our sights on,” Fox executive vp programming Craig Erwich said. “At the heart of it, it is an ensemble of fairly young people with strong points of view in a series that’s noisy and funny. Those seem to be the main definers of our comedy brand.”

And they cancelled Futurama for this? I hate Fox network so much. More than UPN (well, almost, they dumped Firefly). More than WB. More than Lifetime or Oxygen. I hate Fox network so much.

TiVo.com | FREE DVD: Order yours today
Here you can order a DVD of testimonies (and hopefully a few demos) about TiVo. As one of the enlightened, the hardest thing I’ve found to do is convey just why TiVo is a bazillion times better than a VCR. Judgeing by the not-astronomical sales, TiVo themselves are facing a similar issue. Maybe this free DVD is just the thing they need. Too bad AOL has poisoned the whole “free shiney metal” thing by sending out trillions of their sample CDs.

Dell server gets sick, replacement part kills it.

BookmarkSync Bitter News
To summarize:
SyncIt buys Dell server.
Dell server disks go awol after NY blackouts.
Dell doesn’t make exact replacement parts.
“Best Fit” replacement parts destroy what was left of server.
SyncIt folks re-consider their “back up” strategy (IE - “Gee, we shoulda backed this stuff up”)

the silver lining is that it looks like they may be working on an open source replacement so people can run their own servers (and back them up).

Daring Fireball: Save and Restore Safari URLs

Save and Restore Safari URLs

The whole point of scriptable application software is that it allows us, the users, to add and tweak features. By spending the time up-front to make an application scriptable, developers save time down the line, by allowing users to add new features on their own, using (relatively) simple scripts.

For example, I’ve long been annoyed by the inability of web browsers to remember which URLs were open the last time they were quit. I typically have half a dozen or so web browser windows open at any given moment, open to URLs I mean to read in the future.
